Studying at NHL Stenden
We believe it is important that our education links up well with practice. That is why we work closely with the professional field. You work with fellow students in small groups on practical assignments. Your learning goals are central to this. Our teachers know you and guide you. This way you learn all the skills and gain the knowledge you will need to make a difference as a professional. All courses at NHL Stenden work towards Design Based Education (DBE), in which co-creation with the professional field is central. You do this in small groups of students, teachers, researchers, lecturers and professionals from the field.

English is spoken as the first language in many countries and it is used as a second or additional language by millions of people around the world. English is the language of instruction in most international schools. In ITESS you will strengthen your command of English and you will be introduced to the diverse cultures of speakers of English. After graduation you are ready to teach in English as a second or as an additional language.
With all the new technological developments, we will need many professionals with mathematical insight in the future. You are the one who introduces your students to the world of mathematics. There is a high demand for math teachers in international schools.
You are much needed to help young people develop logical insight and problem solving skills. As a math teacher at an international school you often use multimedia resources to convey the curriculum. In addition to being an excellent mathematical expert, ITESS also becomes a source of inspiration for your students.
If you choose history at ITESS, then you are that inspiring teacher who makes students aware of the influence of history on the world around us. You will become acquainted with various topics such as ancient history, world history, war and peace, but you will also conduct historical research yourself.
Technological and scientific discoveries are rapidly changing the world. We need citizens with a scientific basis to address the upcoming global challenges. You develop a total overview of the most important concepts in science, so that you can teach this to students aged 11-14. In addition, you will choose a specialization in biology, chemistry, or physics, which allows you to teach children between the ages of 11-16.
Geography is all around you. The core of teaching geography is helping students make meaning of the world around them. You help them gain insight into the physical, ecological and socio-cultural diversity of the world in which they learn to play an active role.
